On Wednesday, December 3rd, StyleWhipped is sponsoring an important charity event that I am also styling. We hope you will join us for Lynx Ensemble Theater's 1st Annual Benefit Gala, the proceeds from which Lynx will be able to produce their next year's programming of touching, socially conscious work. Plus, the event is going to be amazing...guests will be treated to performances by leading actors & performance artists, and a silent auction will give you the chance to take home some spectacular gifts! Being held at the GINA Gallery on Columbus & 82nd on the Upper West Side of NYC, the party is Festive Attire and already attracting phenomenal attention!
Besides StyleWhipped and my styling company Life, Styled., this event is being sponsored through the tireless generosity of Genre Magazine, Radiant UX (who designed the gorgeous invitation), Studio Artiflora, GINA Gallery, Heron Hill Winery, Brooklyn Brewery, and Buster's Skin Care. Tickets are $50 each (please purchase them here: http://www.nycharities.org/event/event.asp?CE_ID=3279), and below you will find some more information about the incredible group of actors, directors, producers and playwrights who are Lynx Ensemble Theater...

LYNX ENSEMBLE THEATER
Mission Statement:
“Lynx Ensemble Theater was created in 2003 by Mark O'Connell and Aileen Barry, two actors who recognize that the phenomenon of typecasting pervades both art and life. Lynx Ensemble uses theater to challenge stereotypical and limiting concepts of identity, concepts that inhibit both our artists and our audiences. Our goal is to create an environment in which artists can expand their own possibilities, discover their surprising abilities, and, in rebellion against the limitations of "the business," reveal their invigorating eccentricities, weaknesses, differences, and authentic richness.
Lynx Ensemble challenges audiences to recognize themselves in characters who at first seem very different, and emboldens them to take creative, transformative action. Our theater is not limited to a self-selecting in-crowd. We engage audiences of non-typical theatergoers whose diverse experiences add insight and perspective to pre- and post-performance dialogues. In cultivating new plays and revisiting older ones, Lynx challenges the limits placed on identity. Our mission includes, but is not limited to, nontraditional and colorblind casting. Lynx Ensemble's annual programming includes a mainstage production, a reading series, workshops of new plays as well as talkbacks and panel discussions held in tandem with performances.”
Lynx History:
“For five years, Lynx Ensemble has created thrilling theater that explodes stereotypes, encourages empathy, and empowers artists and audiences to envision new possibilities for their lives. Our work has placed exhilarating emphasis on the non-traditional - in casting, in choice of performance venue, in community partnerships, in the storytelling itself. We have sought and supported new voices. We have bridged the gap between the theatrical experience and real life by curating post-performance panels and talkbacks with every performance.
Since our inception in 2003, Lynx has produced four smash-hit mainstage productions; we have read, workshopped, and developed several new plays; supported the work of collaborating playwrights Justin Deabler, Paul Grellong, Olga Humphrey, Brian Mullin, Dan O'Brien, Jessica Provenz, and Justin Scribner; we have worked with directors including Michael Friedman, Dan Horrigan, Ari Laura Kreith, Mahayana Landowne, Gil Parkin, Kate Powers, Liesl Tommy, and Randy White; we have built a stunning ensemble of exceptional actors, designers, and technicians; we have hosted talkbacks and panel series with speakers such as Nadine Strossen of the ACLU; we have attracted an audience of brilliant, big-hearted people from all walks of life.”
