When I hear "denim leggings" I cringe. I can't help but to imagine cheap looking blue cotton spandex jersey leggings with hideous orange contrast stitching designed to make them look like a pair of jeans. What I was failing to comprehend was that there's a great difference between "denim leggings" and "leggings made to look like denim". It's that same fine distinction between wearing a shirt dress and wearing a shirt as a dress (which I tend to discourage unless you're super petite like Alison!).
Recently, while perusing a table of J Brand jeans, I came upon a pair of skinny jeans made in this super lightweight and ultra soft denim. I wanted to try them on immediately. Where have these jeans been all my life? They had to be the most comfortable pants since...well...leggings...?! And so I reached down to read the tag, and sure enough--J Brand Denim Leggings. That'll show me to make uninformed snap judgments! Needless to say, I became an instant convert. I'm not ashamed to admit that wearing clothes as comfy as pajamas hold a strong appeal for me, and these certainly fit the bill. But unlike past trends where comfort was sadly confused with fashion (I don't think I need to name names here), these are undoubtedly stylish and will effortlessly mix in with the rest of your wardrobe. And that, my dears, is one to grow on.
