Unless it involves a glamorous ski trip to Vail, I am not a fan of cold weather. However, winter's one saving grace is that I AM a huge fan of leggings. Regular cotton ones, leather, faux-leather, "liquid"-looking spandex/latex, studded, lace ones...you name it, I've worn it. They are just that much "fancier" than any pair of skinny jeans could ever be, and are super flattering on multiple body types. For me, because I am so tiny, they are a great way to avoid trying to find said skinny jeans that are actually skinny! However, every once in awhile, I wait with baited breath for the newest and most fabulous version of leggings to come out. And I wait. And sometimes I just have to wait until the next season.
But this year...well, this year I found the best update to leggings ever. EVER. Multiple designers are doing it, but I have found a favorite. And what is this "best update ever," you ask? Well, it is a legging...with a FLARE! It is a very, very small flare, but it is a flare nonetheless. It is an expanded ankle opening that is so amazingly flattering. It extends the line of your leg, it balances out the bottom of your leg with the top, and is just really, really cute and that "something different" that the whole legging arena needed.
So which are my favorites? These from David Lerner, called "The Trinity Legging." They have perfectly placed panels of both stretch jersey and polyurethane/spandex, and that little flare that simply changes the whole game. Available in black (which, by the way, is the only color leggings should be besides mayyyybe charcoal grey. Don't argue with me on this one...because I am right...), and priced at $155, these are a possibly a little bit of a splurge for what are really just dressed-up yoga pants (!), but they are also worth it because they are so on-trend, but also so flattering and comfy that you will want to wear them for every single night out.
Just make sure you still wear a tunic-length top. Unless you look like the model in the picture. Which no one real people look like. So wear a tunic-length top. Thank you.
