Baby it's cold outside..and lots of you have upcoming holiday parties this weekend to host! Egg Nogg is notoriously THE Christmas drink but has anyone actually ever had it? I think this creamy age old holiday drink sounds great as a base, but it definitely needs a contemporary face lift! Some drink Egg Nogg cold and some like it hot....I think a nice warm cocktail on these cold nights we've been having sounds toasty and perfect for under the mistletoe! This recipe for Chocoate Kissed Egg Nogg is tasty and relatively easy to make. Although it can be heavy on the calories, you can lighten it up by buying the reduced fat Egg Nogg at your local grocery to save on fat, calories and guilt!
Chocoate Kissed Egg Nogg
1 liter Egg Nogg (full fat or skim)
2 tablespoon cocoa powder
18 (3 ounces) Milk Chocolate Hershey’s Kisses, chopped
2 teaspoons malt powder
2 cinnamon sticks
1/4 cup Crème de Cocoa (optional)
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
In a medium saucepan bring the Egg Nogg up to a simmer; don’t let it boil.
Add the cocoa powder, Kisses, malt powder, cinnamon sticks and salt; stir to combine. Simmer for 15 minutes until the chocolate is completely melted and the Egg Nogg has thickened slightly.
Remove from the heat and stir in Crème de Cocoa (if using). Let the Egg Nogg cool for 5-10 minutes. Ladle into glasses or mugs and enjoy warm.
