Stylewhipped is so excited to partner with IHI Therapy Center on their 40th Anniversary celebration and gala, and we would love to see some of our readers at this important event!
IHI was founded in 1973 to fill an important need: providing affirmative professional mental health services to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community and to all persons stigmatized and labeled because their lifestyles may not conform to current social norms. After leading the successful struggle with the American Psychiatric Association to have homosexuality removed from the list of mental disorders, the founders of IHI recognized the need for a therapy center that could address people’s emotional problems while respecting and fostering their unique identity.
And this year is IHI's 40th Anniversary, which is being celebrated on Monday, December 9th (less than a week away!) with a celebrity studded reading of Sarah Moon and James Lecesne's The Letter Q, a collection of letters written by award winning queer artists to their younger selves. (As well as a fabulous after-party, of course...) Just some of the celebrities starring in the reading include Olympia Dukakis, Carrie Preston (Emmy Award Winner, The Good Wife), Natasha Lyonne (Orange is the New Black), Lea DeLaria (OITNB), Alysia Reiner (OITNB), Zachary Booth (Damages), Maulik Pancholy (30 Rock), Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones), Wade Davis (HBO's The Out List), Brian Murray (TONY award winner), and Halley Feiffer (Bored to Death). Being held at the New York Theater Workshop in NYC's East Village, this is a night of fun, theater, and a really, really good cause.
Tickets run from only $50 for students up to $250 for VIP's (let me tell you, they are definitely worth it!), with general admission $100 tickets also still available. You can purchase your tickets here: https://events.r20.constantcontact.com/register/eventReg?llr=8qpnrpjab&oeidk=a07e8e5m5vj44db3dbc
And I will be there! So hurry up and buy your tickets and support this amazing, important center.
~ Alison.
