When you were a little kid, if you celebrated Christmas, most likely you had an ugly Christmas sweater....with a tree, a reindeer, or some sort of red and green crocheted design on it. As adults, we have learned to embrace the "ugly Christmas sweater" with a newfound nostalgia, making it cool to actually look uncool! Many have ugly sweater parties around the holidays with the most herrendously embarrassing sweater actually winning the prize of the night!
This year, designers have started to put a fashionable twist on the ugly Christmas sweater...the prints are typical but with a more modern take, but the real adjustment is in the fit. These sweaters are closer to the body, cropped, and flattering....definitely my pick for what to wear to your Christmas Eve or Christmas Day festivities this year! My favorite one that I am tempted to run out and buy today (if I had the motivation to brave the shopping crowds!) is the reindeer front zip cardigan from Free People, available at Nordstroms. In yellow, brown and natural with a deer motif, this takes the awkward holiday sweater to a very cool place! Mixed with skinny jeans, boots (or heels!), a chunky scarf, layered tee and fun jewelry, you have your cozy, festive yet chic and comfortable outfit for eating, gifting and celebrating this year!
