Confused? Don't be. I was simply making a reference to all the past eras that this stunning clutch bag from Rafe (one of my all-time favorite designers) could fit into...all while being perfectly current for 2014!
In rich black leather and with a significant size (10" x 8.5"...so your stuff will actually fit in it!), this is the one bag I want to buy this year. It boats an attention-grabbing (but easy to wear) Art Deco design done in black & clear crystals and matte gold bugle beads. And while Art Deco is a 1920's-40's hallmark, the way it is incorporated into this bag's design make it look like it could be vintage from '50's, '60's, or '70's...or just made today in 2014! The dramatic pair of tassels stemming from the zipper closure add a bit of sex-appeal, and the bag itself can be folded over to create a smaller version.
And my stylist's advice? Pair this with everything. Seriously...everything! I would wear this with a pair of boyfriend jeans, a black sweater and bold-colored booties to go to lunch. I would also pair it with edgy liquid leggings, a equally orantely beaded top (just keep all the colors in the same family...black, gold, white, grey) and serious stilettos (or swap out anything else beaded for a brightly colored silk tank...just keep it simple and unstructured). And finally...even though this is leather, it can work for evening or formal. Just keep everything else flowy and feminine and in traditionally "formal" fabrications. Then this piece gets to also take center stage as a key focal point (letting you get away with wearing the same black gown you've worn before!).
And, um, if anyone wants to buy two of these (you know, one for you, one for me), I won't complain ;)
