I am having a little tassel addiction at the moment. When done right (i.e., they don't resemble those weird tie things that held the curtains back at my grandparents' house...), they are chic and glamorous and uber-feminine. Tassels have been used in jewelry for decades, and most often appear in the form of a long pendant. So when I spot a really good pair of tasseled earrings, I've been getting just a little bit excited. And when those tassel earrings are from one of my all-time faves Kenneth Jay Lane, well...I get more than just a little bit excited...
This pair from the aforementioned Kenneth Jay Lane collection (and available on net-a-porter.com), brings together a special combination of boho-chic, Parisian glamour, Asian-influenced luxury, and a serious dose of sexiness. Overall these are 6 inches long, so you can imagine them dancing around your neck and dusting your shoulders (a cleverly sexy spot), and because the tassel is rayon, they are almost weightless (but give the illusion of substance). The silky black tassels will show up beautifully against fair hair, and deserve dark-haired up-do's to show them off. And those black, coral & mint green resin beads? They offer the perfect contrast to our current winter blahs, inciting just a hint of the spring to come. And at $55, these are a fabulous gift (or self-gift...!), and work beautifully with everything from a formal gown to denim cut-offs and a white t-shirt.
So go do a little dance in these. Because they will dance right along with you.
